US Fellowship

Urban Sisters (US) Fellowship

Sister to Sister, through its charitable community-based programs, endorses the educational and spiritual development of our youth into productive and caring global citizens. We support, encourage, and reward students who exemplify outstanding extra curricular talent, good character, high achievement, and service to community.  Sister to Sister has established the Urban Sisters Fellowship to recognize female Harlem seniors with these qualities and immediate collegiate goals for the fall or spring following high school graduation.

This unique form of personal development is designed to empower young girls and women in the United States with the one-to-one mentoring experience in the areas of character building, self-esteem, communication skills, spirituality, bullying, domestic violence, finance and health.  The mentoring program provides mentees with a safe haven and an opportunity to feel comfortable to engage in conversation where they share, evaluate, and are listened to intently. The time, attention and influence of a successful mentor, profoundly and positively impacts the character, confidence and self-esteem, while providing direction and empowering our sisters in the community to rise above their circumstances.  The mentoring program also includes referrals made to outside sources for further development and assistance.

One-time scholarships are offered to graduating high school girls who are entering college for their freshman year.  Applicants must demonstrate exemplary character, respect of authority, and good leadership skills, which has allowed them to give back to their community.  They must have a proven GPA of 3.0 and provide three letters of recommendation from two current teachers, and one community leader (ex., Pastor, Sunday school teacher, or other community representative.)
